Uber is expanding into the AI field by providing data labeling services for companies building internal AI models, after Meta acquired 49% of Scale AI – a move that has raised concerns among Scale's former customers such as OpenAI and Google.

Uber announced that it will license its data labeling platform and technology to support digital tasks through a flexible workforce network. Previously, Uber launched this platform last year and provided "developer leasing" services for AI projects. Meanwhile, Meta invested $14.8 billion in Scale to strengthen its position in the AI race. Many companies are withdrawing from Scale due to concerns over conflicts of interest. According to forecasts, the data labeling market could exceed $17 billion by 2030, as major tech companies spend over $300 billion on AI by 2025.
