Upside: A new way to predict social heat on the Base network.
Upside: A new way of social prediction on the Base network
Upside is an emerging social prediction platform built on the Base blockchain. Its core concept is to allow users to predict and bet on the dissemination trends of social content. Users can submit links to content they believe has the potential to become a "viral hit," including tweets, articles, or videos. The platform will then create a separate prediction market for each link. Other users can participate in the prediction by purchasing "tickets" to judge whether the content will gain widespread dissemination.
To participate in the prediction, you need to use the USDC stablecoin to purchase "tickets." The initial price of each ticket is $0.01, and a single market can issue up to 1 million tickets. The ticket price will dynamically increase with the amount purchased. Users can choose to hold the tickets and wait for appreciation or sell them midway to make a profit. All transactions will be recorded on the blockchain, ensuring the entire process is open, transparent, and traceable.
Upside adopts a "unique link market" system, meaning that the same content can only create a market once. This mechanism encourages users to discover and upload potentially valuable content as early as possible. After each round, the markets that perform well will receive rewards from the platform's "prediction pool." These rewards will be distributed proportionally to link uploaders, original content creators, and users who participate in ticket purchasing, all in the form of USDC.
Unlike traditional prediction markets, Upside's prediction object is the popularity of content dissemination, which is a more subjective judgment. This design aligns better with the usage habits and judgment logic of social media users. The platform's goal is not to predict whether a certain event will occur, but to predict which content may become popular.
Upside has designed a variety of income avenues for users in different roles:
It is worth noting that the same content can consecutively become the winning market in multiple prediction rounds, allowing relevant participants to continuously earn profits.
To prevent market manipulation, Upside has implemented several measures, including on-chain records, a minimum funding threshold, and a five-minute settlement delay. All the platform's functions operate on the Base network, ensuring low trading costs and high processing efficiency. The user participation threshold is low; users can create or join a market simply by pasting a link. Currently, the content supported mainly comes from platform X, and it may expand to more social platforms in the future.
Upside will officially launch on June 10, 2025, and is currently in the invitation code registration phase. The user base is still limited, mainly concentrated in the crypto community. Some users have reported that they may encounter registration delays or content verification failures during peak hours.
It is reported that Upside completed a $1.2 million pre-seed funding round in December 2024, with a valuation of $10 million. However, specific details about the investors, equity structure, and agreements have not yet been disclosed.
From the current functionalities, Upside has already established core mechanisms such as market creation, trading, pricing, and incentive distribution. In the future, community features like leaderboards and historical records may be added. Overall, the project is still in its early stages, and its mechanisms and functionalities are continuously being iterated and improved.
