AI and Payments Fuel Crypto Adoption in 2025 📈

A new survey by Reown and YouGov reveals that Artificial Intelligence and crypto payments are the top drivers of crypto adoption in 2025, cited by 37% of over 1,000 respondents in the U.S. and U.K. Payments saw notable growth, with 34% of participants actively using crypto for transactions, surpassing traditional DeFi activities like staking. Though trading remains the most popular onchain activity.

Reown CEO explained that AI and payments solve different aspects of the same challenge: making crypto more usable and intuitive. Payments are useful in real life for things like sending money abroad, while AI makes using crypto easier by personalizing the experience, spotting fraud and helping developers build and improve tools faster 💡

Interest in crypto as a real-world payment method is growing. More companies are using crypto to pay employees, and 14% of users said payments are the onchain activity they’re most excited about going forward. He noted that onchain payments are no longer niche, they're becoming a key part of everyday financial tools that run on stablecoins.

Ownership trends also highlight shifting preferences. Bitcoin and Ether remain dominant, but stablecoins have now overtaken Solana in popularity, with 38% of respondents holding them. Among younger users (18-34), stablecoin ownership reaches 51%, reflecting a demand for flexible, multichain platforms that support everyday crypto use 📊
