According to recent reports, the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) has recently proposed an innovative proposal aimed at simplifying the listing process for cryptocurrency ETFs. The proposal suggests that cryptocurrency ETFs meeting certain criteria could bypass the case-by-case approval process of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for automatic listing.
The core condition of this proposal is that the relevant encryption assets must be traded on a regulated market for at least six months. If this requirement is met, the corresponding fund can qualify for direct listing. This move could significantly accelerate the listing process of cryptocurrency ETFs, bringing more investment options to the market.
It is worth noting that the CBOE proposal also specifically addresses the unique needs of staking-based ETFs. The proposal states that when more than 15% of the fund's assets cannot be redeemed immediately, the relevant fund needs to develop a dedicated liquidity risk management plan. This regulation may have a positive impact on encryption assets that rely on staking mechanisms, represented by Solana and Cardano.
If this proposal is approved, it will open up new pathways for the development of encryption currency ETFs. It not only simplifies the listing process but also provides clearer regulatory guidance for staking ETFs, which is expected to promote the diversification of encryption currency investment tools. However, whether this proposal can ultimately gain the approval of regulatory agencies remains to be seen. In any case, this proposal reflects the growing attention and adaptation of traditional financial institutions to the encryption currency market.
