According to insiders, Tesla (TSLA.O) is disbanding its Dojo Supercomputer team, with project lead Peter Bannon set to leave, and Musk has ordered the termination of this R&D program. This means that Tesla's significant efforts in self-developing autonomous driving chips are coming to an end. Insiders report that about 20 team members have recently moved to the newly established DensityAI company, while the remaining members will be reassigned to other data centers and computing-related projects. It is said that Tesla plans to rely more on external technology partners in the future, including computing power provided by Nvidia and AMD, as well as chip manufacturing services from Samsung. The Dojo project has been in preparation for years and was regarded as the core of Tesla's multi-billion dollar AI strategy. Dojo is Tesla's self-designed supercomputer system used to train models that support its autonomous driving, FSD, and Optimus Bots.
