Recently, a subsidiary of a social media giant registered a money service business with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) in the United States. The registered entity is named Twitter Payments LLC, and according to business registration data, this company was established in August of this year in Washington State.
FinCEN, as a branch of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, is primarily responsible for overseeing the activities of money services businesses within the United States. All registered businesses are required to report any suspicious transactions to FinCEN.
It is worth noting that the submission of this sign up document coincided with the recent acquisition of the social media platform for $44 billion.
