Dencun is coming, which will provide cheap transactions on Ethereum
The dates of two important steps included in the Dencun update, which is expected to reduce the high transaction fee and congestion problems experienced in the Ethereum network for years, have been announced. The Ethereum Foundation has stated that if the Sepolia and Holesky developments are successful, Dencun will move to the mainnet in March.
The Ethereum Foundation has announced that the long-awaited Dencun update's testnets, Sepolia and Holesky, will be completed next month. This suggests that the update will be on the mainnet in March.
In a statement, the foundation said, "Considering the successful completion of Sepolia and Holesky, Dencun will come to the mainnet in the next phase. Sepolia will be completed on January 30 and Holesky on February 7."
Ethereum is known as a system with high network fees due to its decentralized structure and constant blockages. Developers, on the other hand, state that the Dencun development will solve many scaling problems in the network.
EIP-4844, one of the enhancements included in the Dencun update, will help the network complete 100,000 transactions per second much cheaper. The main system that will be cheaper here will be the 2nd layer solutions.
As it is known, most of the activity on Ethereum takes place in these layer 2 systems.
Ethereum, a system that developers regularly work on, made its biggest update in September 2022 by switching from the Proof-of-Work system to Proof-of-Stake.
